Having spent much of his early career as a professional outdoor instructor and guide, Darryl applied the many lessons he learnt to his work providing strategic business advice in leadership, strategy and transformational change to the private sector, government and community organisations.
Eventually becoming the CEO of the NZ Mountain Safety Council, Darryl led that national organisation on a seven year transformation journey delivering outdoor safety programmes and services (many on behalf of government) that continue today.
Darryl now leads the NZ Better Public Services Result 10 programme transforming citizens interaction with government. While positive progress is being made, the challenge of integrating services based around citizen life events has only just begun – and so the next adventure begins.

The Architecture Practice
The Architecture Practice (TAP) was formed in 2014 to bridge the gap between Business and ICT.
The founders had been working in Government and Private Sector and found that most consulting firms or vendors were not supporting the clients from a strategic aspect.
The result being that Business was forced to use not fit-for-purpose technology or the technology was not being used to its best purpose and design.
In response TAP paved a way forward, building excellence in Enterprise Architecture in both advice and delivery across Government and the Private Sector.
TAP believes that the right Architect applies impartial creative thinking to projects large and small within the context of the business. They provide innovative solutions to issues from specific business problems to transformational exercises.
The Architects at TAP produce practical architecture, and are happy to work with any technologies our clients already own or methodologies they want to use, to make it easier to realize their business strategy.
When you use TAP you don’t just get one Enterprise Architect, you get access to a whole team of Enterprise, Solutions, Business, Information and Integration Architects that are there to help produce the right outcome for your organisation.

Strategic Reform is a management consulting company that specialises in designing, planning, implementing and driving transformational change.
Our engagements involve assisting clients with achieving fundamental changes to their business models and service delivery.
Strategic Reform understand first-hand the challenges of achieving digital transformation. Through our work in assisting government agencies transition to Cloud computing, outsourced service providers, shared service models and new technologies and systems, we have witnessed and had to overcome the gap between what industry has to offer and the risk and change appetites of government.
In our experience, doing so requires a shift in mindset – from one where government’s primary function is to stabilise, assure and control, to one where government must disrupt, question and empower.
We’ve assisted our clients on this journey – providing strategic leadership, and talking frankly about risk, security and quality. We know that achieving transformational change requires more than a desire to work differently – it requires a clear and persuasive future state, a well-considered strategy, an easily actionable implementation roadmap, and the various skills, capabilities and confidence needed to make it a reality.
Strategic Reform can provide our clients with this. Our experienced and passionate consultants can provide enterprise, business and systems analysis, change and communication management, programme and project management, and risk and security advisory services.
We can work with you from the strategy and business case development stages, right through the procurement, workforce change and implementation stages, and commit to staying with you until you’ve realised the benefits.
