Child Protection keynote awarded prestigious International award

Dr John Simmonds from the British Association for Adoption & Fostering (BAAF) has recently been awarded the prestigious Order of the British Empire for his services to children and families in the United Kingdom.

The Order of the British Empire recognises distinguished services to the arts and sciences, public services outside the Civil Service and work with charitable and welfare organisations.  Dr Simmonds has worked tirelessly over the past 40 years helping to improve the lives of vulnerable children across the UK. 

He is regarded as one of the most respected experts in adoption and fostering.  Dr. Simmonds is a leading influence on improving good practice through his research, advice and expertise. He has also contributed to government policy; advising the Government and stakeholders on all issues affecting the care of children.

The British Association of Adoption & Fostering is the leading membership organisation for people who have an interest in fostering, adoption and the well-being of children. They innovate, research and coordinate a number of projects within the field of adoption.

Dr. John Simmonds will be travelling to Australia in March to deliver an exclusive presentation at the Pathways for Vulnerable Children Conference (March 17-18, Melbourne) . He will be addressing permanency planning for children in care by exploring family placement practice. Dr. Simmonds will also be facilitating an interactive workshop on how to build organisational capacity through effective service innovation
