With November on its way, Criterion Conferences knew it was time to tell the gentlemen of the office to put down those razors, let that facial hair grow, and get on board with Movember. Movember has become a national movement in Australia, where every November, men across the country band together and grow a moustache for charity, in order to raise awareness of prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. The proceeds raised go to programs supporting research, training and resources in these areas. With Criterion Conferences being very active in the healthcare sector, it made sense that we would get on board and assist with the Movember cause.

Seven brave men in the office signed up to be part of the Criterion Mo Bros and let that fabulous upper lip facial hair grow for a month. We had two competitions running within the office: firstly, who is the Mo Bro who can raise the most funds, and secondly, who can wear the mo the best.

It all started on day 1, where the seven determined men arrived to work cleanshaven, looking a good five years younger, and slightly gloomy. Brandon in particular, who took the shave hard and lost his MOjo for the whole week following the trim. To monitor the growth and development of their facial hair, we took day 1 photos, and posted them to Criterion Mo Bros website, ready to start receiving donations. Over the next 30 days, the office witnessed the Mo Bros’ ups and downs as they attempted to grow out that stubble into a beautiful moustache.

After a month of the Criterion Mo Bros campaigning with colleagues and friends, November came to an end, and with it, the end of Movember. Which sadly meant, no more questionable facial hair walking around the office. Together, we raised $1,264 for Men’s Health Programs. This amounted to the most successful charity drive in Criterion history in regards to staff donations. The Criterion Mo Bro who raised the most funds was Brandon, from our Delegate Sales team, who raised an amazing $416! Then it was put to the office to vote for the best looking Mo Bro in the office, which was taken out by a landslide by Marco in our Data Acquisition team, whose bristle caterpillar was voted the crowd favourite in the office. Both Brandon and Marco were awarded with a lovely bottle of Whiskey as their prize. MOver all, it was a very successful event, and I am sure I can speak for the office when I say that we can’t wait to do it all again next year.
