Empowering through knowledge

We’re here to encourage an exchange of ideas, kick-start knowledge sharing and trigger conversations across industries.

We want to create a warm, friendly and inviting space that inspires and empowers.

To do that we need YOU to be an active part of our community. Agree, disagree, share your thoughts, we only ask that do so in a way that is respectful of the other members of our awesome Criterion community.

What you need to know:

All comments submitted to this website will be reviewed by a moderator.

By submitting a comment to the Criterion Conferences blog (the blog), you consent to Criterion Conferences (us) reproducing and publishing that content (either in whole or an edited version of the posting) to any Criterion Conferences websites or publications.

It’s the job of our moderators to ensure that comments are relevant and appropriate and may take any steps they deem appropriate to ensure all content meets our community dos and don’ts, described below.

Our community moderators work 8.30am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday and will aim to review comments within 2 hours during these times.

Community dos & don’ts:

DO be yourself. Others will engage with you more if you’re seen to be a real person, giving a real opinion. Whether at a conference or online, we’re all about networking. Have the confidence to be you. If you want to know more about us you can read our bios at the end of each post.

DON’T forget to keep private stuff private. At the same time, please protect your privacy online, and the privacy of fellow users. Please don’t post anyone’s personal details without their permission. That means no phone numbers, no email addresses, or anything else that isn’t yours to share.

DO be constructive with your criticism. We love doing what we do because we love hearing your opinions. However, personal attacks (on blog authors, moderators, other users or any individual), will not be tolerated. Make sure your posts address the topic of the blog post you’re responding to and always be respectful of others opinions.

DON’T be a bully. We will not tolerate comments that harass, abuse, impersonate, or intimidate others. We know you’re a passionate bunch, but we reserve the right to remove any content that could be viewed as offensive or threatening.

DO feel free to share. Sharing information is the lifeblood of Criterion and the essence of social media. Bringing more people into the conversation will create a more robust community. However, our love of sharing does not extend to sharing viruses or potentially harmful code, advertising, promotions or similar material.

DON’T steal. Respect the copyright of others. Many elements of the blog such as text, pictures and logos are subject to copyright. To avoid infringing copyright, please link to material on the blog rather than reproducing it. If you’re feeling the urge to borrow, or if you are unsure about whether your proposed use infringes copyright, please email us.

DO let us know if someone isn’t playing by the rules. Email us if you feel these guidelines are being breached by a member of the community or if you’ve seen a comment or post that offends you.

DON’T hold a grudge if your comment is removed. If your comment is removed for any reason, we won’t respond to any further comment or query related to that post within the blog itself. If you have an issue, please email us, we take your feedback seriously and would rather talk to you one-on-one.

DO talk to us if you have a customer service issue. The blog is a place to encourage conversation on a wide range of topics. Because we want to give you the best help we can our customer service won’t be one of them. Please head to our contact page to be directed to the right channel and we’ll do our best to help you out.

DON’T be a troll. Just don’t.
