Brad is currently the Assistant Secretary, Performance Reporting and Planning Branch at the Commonwealth Department of Finance. In his role Brad is responsible for the design and implementation of the enhanced Commonwealth performance framework. The framework is a requirement of the Public Governance Performance and Accountability Act 2013. Previously, in the Department of Finance, Brad has been in charge of the Funds and Actuarial Branch covering policy of the Commonwealth’s investment funds, the Efficiency Improvement Branch and the Asia-Pacific Partnership Branch. Brad has also extensive financial management experience in a variety of Commonwealth Entities as well with the United Nations.

Dereck has spent over thirty years working in development cooperation, during which time he has gained an impressive depth and breadth of experience in bilateral and multilateral aid policy formulation, aid implementation and administration. He has represented Australia overseas at a senior level in Fiji and Vietnam and has twice served terms as Australia’s Alternate Executive Director on the board of the Asian Development Bank in Manila. Since July 2011 Dereck has been Head of DFAT’s Office of Development Effectiveness, an operationally independent unit within the Department charged with monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of Australia’s aid program. A graduate of Curtin University, Dereck undertook post-graduate studies at Sophia University in Tokyo (sponsored by a Western Australian State Government Japanese Studies Scholarship) and the University of Hawaii (sponsored by an East-West Center Scholarship) where he received an MA (Asian Studies) and a MBA. He also holds a Graduate Diploma in International Law from ANU.
