Nick is a graduate of the University of Washington in Seattle with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and has over 13 years of bridge design related experience. He began his career with the Bridge and Structures office of the Washington State Department of Transportation as a Bridge Engineer, designing bridges and other transportation related structures of varying complexity. Nick has also worked on mega-projects and in contract administration for WSDOT before accepting a position with HDR, Inc. where he spent 3 years. Nick is currently the Floating Bridge and Special Structures Design Manager for WSDOT.
John has over 40 years of experience in bridge design and construction.John is a highly experienced bridge engineer with extensive project history, including bridges within Australia, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, New Zealand and Africa. This experience encompasses a wide range of loadings, spans and structure types.
John is Aurecon’s Global Expertise Leader for Bridges. In this role he is responsible for the promotion of Aurecon’s technical brand, development of specific training and skills, input into resource allocation, business development, promotion and development of digital engineering for bridges, technical reviews and verifications and contribution to a culture of capturing, storing and sharing knowledge for the betterment of the group.John has presented over 50 technical papers at various technical forums covering a range of diverse initiatives throughout my career including; Bridges for the 21st century, New materials in construction – where to from here and How bridges can be both sustainable and cost effective.
John was awarded the 2016 Technical Excellence Award from Roads Australia.
In 2018 he was named one of Engineer Australia’s 30 most innovative engineers.
He awarded the John Connell Gold medal for 2018 by the Structural College of the Institution of Engineers Australia

During his career Dylan has held very challenging and rewarding positions at MidCoast Water, Tamworth Regional Council and Walcha Council. He currently holds the position of Director – Engineering Services at Walcha Council. He works on an array of local government engineering projects, with talented & passionate colleagues. He is very proud and thankful to be apart of the local government engineering community, as all steps of his career have provided an opportunity to learn and grow.

Mr Bret Kershaw is Principal Engineer within the Structures Management unit of the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads. Bret has more than 15 years in a wide range of areas which include the design of road and building infrastructure. For the past 12 years, he has primarily been involved in the management of the state’s infrastructure assets. A key area of interest and focus has been to ensure TMR’s Asset Management system, and the underlying tools and processes which support it, remain fit for purpose, in order to ensure the growing demands of industry and stakeholders are catered for.
National Heavy Vehicle Regulator
Peter has been with the NHVR since its inception in 2013 and has delivered a range of reforms that have improved heavy vehicle network access.
Peter and his team are responsible for ensuring that heavy vehicle access to the transport networks is supported by services and projects that are safe, effective and efficient for the industry and state and local road managers.
Network Access lead the delivery of the permit application process, the national harmonisation program and development of policy driven outcomes that promote the best use of high productivity vehicles and fair and equitable access for the whole industry.
Peter has extensive experience in heavy vehicle regulatory matters and with the heavy vehicle industry. He has worked in senior government roles with the Queensland Department of Transport on heavy vehicle regulation, policy and legislative matters over many years and also has significant background in training, enforcement and education.
Michal is a bridge specialist with over 22 years of design / consultancy experiences and proven track record of delivering bridge designs and investigations for wide range of bridge types. During that time, working amongst others in the roles of Bridges Team Leader, Design Manager and Project Manager he successfully delivered numerous designs on the major interurban road schemes throughout all stages of design from Route Selection Phase up to and including Construction Administration and supervision. Owing to his in-depth knowledge of bridges and attention to detail Michal had the privilege to work on some most iconic and challenging bridge designs in Europe and Australia. That includes inter alia design of feature footbridges, cable supported bridges, peer review of major extradosed bridge in Poland or design on an iconic cable stayed bridge in the UK. Michal has an extensive experience in design of integral bridges, devised to minimise an ongoing maintenance. He builds on this providing tailored designs for the client specific situations. Working in close co-operation with the major Australian and European contractors he gained in depth knowledge of various construction methodologies and ability to provide highly workable designs right from the concept phase. This always ensures Value for Money. After moving to Sydney, he continues working on some of the most prominent bridge projects in NSW demonstrating, as always, enthusiasm, devotion to quality and capabilities as a team player.

John Langton (RPEQ) is a Civil Engineer with extensive experience across private construction, semi-government and government organisations in Asset Management and Construction. A large volume of his experience has been working with structures as an asset manager, engineer and project manager. He has managed a network of bridges in rural areas and more recently in the metropolitan environment, which includes his last 5 years working in the Structures team of Brisbane City Council.
Currently, he manages a multidisciplinary team (approximately 35) who are responsible for the inspection, maintenance and construction of Brisbane’s bridges.
Wolfram Schwarz is a Chartered Professional Engineer with over 18 years’ experience in designing and maintaining building and civil structures in Germany, Australia and New Zealand. He has a passion for exploring new ideas and trialing non-conventional design solutions to build sustainable and cost-effective structures. He is recognised as a technical reviewer and a trusted provider of engineering services. This includes design of new bridges and refurbishment design of existing structures with a focus on increasing the remaining service life with tailored asset management solutions for individual structures. His current role is Technical Executive of the Bridges and Structures Team in Perth.

Matt is the Manager Infrastructure Services at Nambucca Shire Council, where he leads a team that delivers civil infrastructure construction and maintenance, including vegetation management and plant maintenance.
Matt has been in Local Government Engineering for 15 years and loves working for the community and delivering positive quality value for money outcomes. Matt restructured Nambucca’s operations in 2015 and built a team that is capable of delivering a wide range of local government civil infrastructure works including; bridges, roads, drainage structures, boardwalks, sea walls, retaining structures, CBD upgrades, culturally significant sites and landscaping projects.
Matt has been described as lean and agile, not physically, but more in a philosophical and managerial sense. In late 2018 Matt’s team began constructing Lanes Bridge, a $2M Project utilising a mix of day labour staff, casuals and specialised contractors and completed the project on time and on budget.

Ian is a Civil Engineer with over 30 years’ experience in the field of investigation, repair and protection of all types of structures. He is the major owner, Director and Principal Engineer of Infracorr Consulting, a specialist consulting group operating in the field of durability and repair of civil infrastructure.
Ian has a background in consulting and specialist repair contracting since 1987 and has a particular interest in electrochemical repair techniques. In 2004 Ian formed Infracorr Consulting PL, as specialist consultants in the repair field, working throughout the country on investigation, design and supervision of electrochemical and conventional concrete repair projects and extending the durability of structures.
He is a current committee member of Australasian Corrosion Association (Vic), The Chairman of the ACA Foundation, a past President of Concrete Institute of Australia (VIC) and the founding President and Life Member of ACRA (Australian Concrete Repair Association)

Max is an engineering professional with a Bachelor of Science (Civil) and Master of Engineering (Civil) from University of Melbourne. His professional focus centres around project management, business development and technical applications. He has worked with Mainmark Ground Engineering since 2016 and is extremely experienced in delivering grout, resin and other cementitious geotechnical and ground improvement technologies with applications in the residential, commercial, gas/oil and civil sectors.
Lochiel Jackson, Senior Director and Business Development Manager for XLNT Solutions Group, has been involved in the development and export of Australian based products and technology for in excess of 30 years. Loch has been involved in the establishment of high performance construction chemicals products in Australia and Asia for more than 25 years and has worked on the successful implementation of strategies to maximize new and existing infrastructure lifecycle on projects as diverse as Singapore’s Theatres on the Bay, Thailand PTT Refinery wharf and jetty projects as well as Hong Kong’s Tsuen Wan West and Tsim Sha Tsui Underground Rail Projects. Loch is a long-time believer in sustainability in concrete infrastructure, and development of monitoring services to ensure successful implementation of these outcomes.
